We love sharing our travel adventures with our readers! Below we detail our recent adventures to Hong Kong, where East meets West!
As we flew to Hong Kong with one stopover in Taipei, we explored the very cool Taipei International Airport that had a great waiting area for kids to spend time in while waiting for their flights.
We couldn't be more happy with the customer service we received on our flight! The flight attendant found out we didn't eat pork, she made a special note for our flight back (we didn't make a meal selection prior to take off). We also saw one gentleman was running late for our flight and the attendants made sure a rep was there to meet him and ensure he made it on.
Exploring the Hong Kong Historical Museum is a great activity for both adults and kids (albeitI you might consider hiring a tour guide). Interesting way to depict Hong Kong's history when you travel through various periods.
During our first evening in Hong Kong, we took a tour and visited local places.
The tour was amazing and we couldn't be happier with our tour guide Amy from Hong Kong Greeters. We were so impressed with the temples, local markets, snake soup we tried, and strange (but delicious) fruit. The biggest impression was the snake soup we tried; live snakes (some of them poisonous) are stored in boxes approx. one foot from where you eat them!
We found some interesting local places to eat that we never would have found had it not been for the locals we befriended. The below desert is made of mango and was delicious. Many of these eateries are cozy as they are quite small.
The following day we toured the small island of Cheung Chau. We saw pirate caves, dry fish and ducks, old temples, and gorgeous views.
During our evening, we enjoyed a nice walk through Hong Kong.
The next day, we did a local food walk in the city with a tour guide. We tried so many local meals during the two and a half hour tour, we couldn't be more pleased. Some of the foods we tried included authentic Wanton noodle soup, egg tartar, milk tea, sugar cane juice, various fruits and many more we can't propery name.
We also visited the famous Buddhist temple, Chi Li Nunnery. I would highly recommend visiting this temple over Wong Tai Sin as it is MUCH less crowded. The temple is built using brackets without any nails and is quite interesting!
We finished our visit of Hong Kong with a great cultural tour. We visited new and old Kawloon, more temples, and an eatery famous for its eggs on toast.
